On Thursday 8th July, CEMAS hosted the launch of the website “Camins de la Pesca”, an initiative of the Cátedra Tierra Ciudadana of the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Consell Alimentari de València, with the collaboration of the Diputació and the Ajuntament de València.
The website highlights the unique fishing heritage of the city, the result of an activity that has been carried out in the maritime settlements of València since ancient times, unknown to most of the citizens and invisible to most visitors.
Antonio Quintana Martínez, Director-General of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture of the Generalitat Valenciana, said that the website is “a project with a great future that values the hard and essential work of fishermen”. In turn, he highlighted the contribution of fishing to gastronomy and tourism and urged the public to prioritise this local product in their shopping baskets.
