22 March marks World Water Day, a UN-coordinated celebration that raises awareness and inspires action to address the global water crisis. With this in mind and with the desire to give a just recognition to the oldest active legal entity in the world, CEMAS is organizing the International Congress of the Water Court on 22nd and 23rd March.
The Water Court is Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO and a sign of identity for València. Surrounded by La Huerta, an environment with a generally smallholder agricultural production structure, the city has relied on this fundamental instrument for centuries to ensure proper water management.
The role of this court becomes even more important in a context where billions of people do not have access to safe drinking water. CEMAS believes that there is an urgent need to accelerate change, to go further to find solutions that guarantee this right.
