After months of preparation, on 22 July 2019, CEMAS held its opening event at the Marina de València chaired by Queen Letizia and with interventions by the President of the Generalitat Ximo Puig, the Director General of FAO José Graziano da Silva, the Mayor of Valencia Joan Ribó, the eco-activist and philosopher Dr. Vandana Shiva and the Nobel Peace Prize winner Edward Rubin. More than 250 people – both mayors and representatives of civil society, academia, the private sector and foundations gathered to welcome the new World Center for Sustainable Urban Food of València (CEMAS).
The 2019/2020 work plan will be developed in the upcoming weeks. One of the first planned projects will be an exhibition on the challenges of sustainable food for cities in the 21st century. You can check here the full opening event.
