On 20th and 21st May, the Spanish Vegetarian Union held the 4th Congress on food, animal rights and the environment, a meeting that brought to the table current issues revolving around plant-based food.
The event held at the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia coincided with the 20th anniversary of the entity and offered round tables and conferences. CEMAS participated in the “Green Table”, opening debate on how our food system affects the climate crisis.
“Feeding ourselves three times a day is both a private and political act. In this world that sometimes seems apocalyptic, our relationship with food is one of the few opportunities we have left to give the necessary dimension of dignity to the human being”, said Vicente Domingo, director of CEMAS.
In addition, those present discussed, among other topics, the implementation of plant culture in schools and myths and truths about vegetarian food.
