The Chairman of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, announced, on 1st March, the investment of 6 million euros to promote four innovation “agrohubs” in the Valencian Community.
The centres will be led by the Valencian Association of Farmers and will be located in the towns of Morella, Requena, Polinyà del Xúquer and Elche. Each of them will be a space for permanent innovation and training in a particular field: livestock, viticulture and oenology, Mediterranean agriculture and water management.
Likewise, the Council has shown the administration’s support for the “Digitalizadora Agraria” (Farming Digitisation) initiative that will participate in the Strategic Project for Recovery and Economic Transformation (PERTE [Proyecto Estratégico para la Recuperación y Transformación Económica]). Its objective is to improve competitiveness, sustainability, traceability and food safety, and it is estimated that it could create up to 5,431 new jobs, focusing on women and young people in 203 rural municipalities.
