The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 12, 2023. The conference began with the approval of a climate disaster fund, aimed at supporting vulnerable communities and developing countries struggling with the impacts of climate disasters.
Agreement on global climate action
Agreement was reached on the first “global assessment,” which includes elements ranging from emissions reductions to energy efficiency and renewable energy development.
Fossil fuels: the beginning of the end
Negotiators from nearly 200 countries acknowledged for the first time the need to move away from fossil fuels in a landmark agreement.
